How We Build a Metallic Floor

Simple but elegant kitchenette metallic, quicksilver, Anthem, AZ
We start with the concrete. We diamond grind the surface, vacuum thoroughly, and inspect for cracks, divots, and other repairs. Where applicable, we prepare and fill control joints, then grind the repairs smooth. We clean the floor again before any coating goes down.

We build a clean, even foundation. Our first primer coat helps seal the prepared concrete. Once it cures, we sand, clean, and inspect the surface for pinholes and imperfections. We repair what we find before applying a colored primer chosen to support your final design. We repeat the inspection and preparation between coats, adding another primer coat when the floor needs it.

We create the metallic design. We prepare the selected colors in advance and apply the metallic coat at approximately 30 square feet per gallon. Once the materials are mixed, working time is limited, so we plan the color placement and work the pattern with purpose. Every floor develops its own movement; it won’t be an exact copy of a sample photo.
We choose the finish for the space. After the metallic coat cures, we select a clear finish based on how you’ll use the floor and the final appearance you want. The concrete’s condition and the selected system determine the exact number of coats and preparation steps.

Why We Inspect Between Coats
Concrete is porous, and air or moisture moving through it can cause bubbles and pinholes as a coating cures. We take time to prepare the concrete, choose an appropriate primer, and inspect each coat so we can address visible imperfections before applying the metallic finish. A completely pinhole-free floor cannot be guaranteed, but this careful work helps us achieve the cleanest finish possible.

Metallic Floor Pricing
Our metallic floor projects have a $2,500 minimum. For larger floors, pricing typically starts at $15 per square foot. The minimum is included in that calculation—it is not an additional charge. For example, a 200-square-foot project would start at approximately $3,000.

Metallic floors are custom work. Your final price depends on the floor’s size and condition, any repairs needed, the design, and the coating system selected. We assess your concrete and discuss the look you want before providing a firm quote.
